Something about the history of this game
In April 2020 I started to create a game for the annual ABBUC e.V. software contest for the ATARI 8-Bit line of computers. It took me about 4 months to finish a version that was sent to the competition. I had to use a lot of tricks to bring my idea of a board game with up to 4 players to the A8 machines. Finally I earned 7th place in the contest.
Over the years I optimized the game a lot. Graphic engine esp. on NTSC machines was really slow. This was finally fixed. I added another 10 levels during this time, resulting in a total count of 35 different boards to play - every one with different graphics (ok, almost), feel and difficulty to win.
Early in May 2024 I started to push the game to another level. Using the great developement suite JagStudio, I started to create a Jaguar version. Jumping those "few" Bits gave me room to include some other ideas I had in mind for the game.
Instead of 6502 asssembler, this time I use BCX BASIC, that is possible with JagStudio - never had enough time to learn 68k assembler or C. I am sure, I'm not using all of the BASIC features and instead doing something "the harder way", but finally the game runs fine on my Jaguar :)
Why did I choose this genre?
Short and simple answer: Like on A8, there's no other game on the Jaguar like this.
I really like the ideas behind Monopoly and even more Itadaki Street. So it was a must to have this on my beloved ATARIs, too. When you play the game, you will discover some similarities to those two board games, but I think you will discover more differences, too.
